Taylor Swift was born in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania and lives with her parents and her brother in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Her grandmother was a professional opera singer, Swift was more interested in country music by artists such as LeAnn Rimes, Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, Dixie Chicks and Shania Twain.

But she was already writing her own songs. With eleven years in Nashville, she tried on several record labels to get a contract. When this failed, they continued to work on her own songs. Then rapper Kanye West took to the stage, broke Taylor Swift's acceptance speech and said that Knowles would actually have to win the prize. Even Barack Obama commented on the incident and called West a fool ("He is a jackass").
