WOT - Ray Burns aka Captain Sensible: Video, Lyrics & Cover
Captain Sensible (born April 24, 1954 in London, actually Ray Burns) is a British singer, guitarist, bassist, lyricist, composer.
Burns began playing in various bands, as in Johnny Moped. In 1976 he joined as bassist for the punk-rock band The Damned, which was founded by Brian James. On the bus ride to Mont-de-Marsan punk festival in southern France, he was provided by Sean Tyla (Ducks Deluxe) by the pseudonym Captain Sensible. The name stuck.
After a short-term resolution of the band and his own projects (King instead of the favored group of Sensible Queen) The Damned came together again. Sensible wrote the bulk of the songs for the album Machine Gun Etiquette, which must apply as a classic of melodic punk rock and shone as a guitarist, his
preference was apparent to the psychedelia of early Pink Floyd at Syd Barrett and Jimi Hendrix.
with classic pop music, a rebellious and self-confident image and a red Basque beret / cap as a trademark, he landed several hits from 1982 to 1984, he alone or with Robyn Hitchcock (Soft Boys) wrote.
parallel to The Sensible Damned started his solo career, as he had written songs that saw the group as to poplastig. These he took himself to A & M Records and was an immediate success. His debut single, Happy Talk occupied in July 1982 in the British charts for two weeks number 1
His biggest hit in Germany was the rap music Wot, the beginning of 1983 climbed to number 4 on the singles chart. Willem (formerly retired band) recorded a German cover version entitled Wat and was also successful in the charts. The German text is about a gatekeeper of Lufthansa, which met during the night shift ET. After his
Contract with A & M Records ended, he released records on his own Deltic Records (double album Revolution Now) and Humbug Records / Trident (concept-album The Universe of Geoffrey Brown and Import Meat Head). He also worked with Martin Newell (Cleaners from Venus) on new songs. In April and May 1996 went to The Sensible Punk Floyd for the first time on big tour of Germany. Since 1997 he is again member of The Damned.
Captain Sensible lives in Brighton.

Lyrics / Songtext "Wot":
When I woke up this morning I was feelin' fine
But this cat starts banging man what a swine.
So I called reception but to no avail
That's why I'm telling you this sorry tale.
I went bang - I said shut up,
I went bang - I said rap up.
Well I'm aware that the guy must do his work
But the piledriver man drove me berserk.
He said captain, I said wot,
He said captain, I said wot,
He said captain, I said wot,
He said captain, I said wot d'ya want
Once a lifetime, twice a day
If you don't work you get no pay.
I been to the east, I been to the west,
But the girls I like best are the ones undressed.
Well, hello Adam, where you been?
I said a'stand aside 'cause I'm feelin' mean,
I've had a gutful of you and I'm feelin' bad
'Cause you're an ugly old pirate and ain't I glad.
He said captain, I said wot, ...
He said captain, I said wot, ...
